Is Genshin Impact Getting An Anime Adaptation?

If you’re reading this article, chances are you’re one of the 60 million people actively invested in Genshin Impact right now. With its gorgeous anime-inspired landscape, it’s no wonder over 21 million people registered for the game even before it was out. But it begs the question: can we expect an anime adaptation anytime soon?

Thanks to the 2020 pandemic, people had way too much time on their hands but not enough resources. So, when Chinese developers MiHoYo announced a free-to-play game that promised all the fun of a Triple-A title but on a smartphone? It turned out to be the perfect storm to catapult Genshin Impact into cult status.

Sadly, there hasn’t been any solid news of an anime adaptation but there is just so much content to explore! Thanks to its gorgeous fantasy anime visuals, interactive gameplay, and beautiful characters, people have become huge fans of the world of Teyvat and its inhabitants. And boy, are they hungry for more.

So today we are going to take a look at the potential of a Genshin Impact animated series!

    Genshin Impact: Why An Anime?

Why do we want anything adapted into anime? Because it’d be a new way to experience the content we know and love!

We know MiHoYo has been looking into expanding the beloved MMORPG’s universe for a while now. With its steady updates for the past two years, we’ve gotten so much more lore and history to comb through. And the characters involved have so much backstory to be explored.

Already Genshin Impact has short anime cut scenes intersecting with gameplay, so it’s not like the medium would be something new for them to do.

    To WebToon And Beyond!

Another reason fans believe we could get a potential anime is thanks to the existence of the Genshin Impact WebToon! That’s right, long-time lovers of the game know that the Line Webtoon app has added a Genshin Impact prequel to its arsenal.

This WebToon chronicles the time before the main game timeline starts and takes place in Mondstadt, where a great evil is lurking to breakthrough. It centers around Venessa, the first Dandelion Knight, and explores the backgrounds of two current main characters in the game, Diluc and his adoptive brother Kaeya.

Genshin Impact: Crunchyroll And Reddit Leaks?

    Starry Sky Genshin Impact

I know, I know. Leaks can often mean nothing! But enthusiasts are convinced something fishy is going on between MiHoYo and Crunchyroll.

When Crunchyroll wrote an entire piece on the Genshin Impact 2.5 update, people were left a little confused. Crunchyroll is a streaming service for anime, why was it writing up an op-ed about a mobile MMO? Either it’s trying to cash in on the hype, or something’s happening in the background.

And then the Reddit leaks happened! Fans saw what looked like screenshots from an anime short involving the mysterious Kamisato Ayato standing next to Ayaka, his sister in the game! Several credible leakers have said that this leak has some truth to them, but we won’t know for sure until MiHoYo announces it officially!

So, do you think we’re getting a Genshin Impact anime anytime soon? I mean, you know what they say about manifesting what you want, so here’s hoping!
