Genshin Impact: Why An Anime?
Why do we want anything adapted into anime? Because it’d be a new way to experience the content we know and love!
We know MiHoYo has been looking into expanding the beloved MMORPG’s universe for a while now. With its steady updates for the past two years, we’ve gotten so much more lore and history to comb through. And the characters involved have so much backstory to be explored.
Already Genshin Impact has short anime cut scenes intersecting with gameplay, so it’s not like the medium would be something new for them to do.
To WebToon And Beyond!
Another reason fans believe we could get a potential anime is thanks to the existence of the Genshin Impact WebToon! That’s right, long-time lovers of the game know that the Line Webtoon app has added a Genshin Impact prequel to its arsenal.
This WebToon chronicles the time before the main game timeline starts and takes place in Mondstadt, where a great evil is lurking to breakthrough. It centers around Venessa, the first Dandelion Knight, and explores the backgrounds of two current main characters in the game, Diluc and his adoptive brother Kaeya.
Genshin Impact: Crunchyroll And Reddit Leaks?
I know, I know. Leaks can often mean nothing! But enthusiasts are convinced something fishy is going on between MiHoYo and Crunchyroll.
When Crunchyroll wrote an entire piece on the Genshin Impact 2.5 update, people were left a little confused. Crunchyroll is a streaming service for anime, why was it writing up an op-ed about a mobile MMO? Either it’s trying to cash in on the hype, or something’s happening in the background.
And then the Reddit leaks happened! Fans saw what looked like screenshots from an anime short involving the mysterious Kamisato Ayato standing next to Ayaka, his sister in the game! Several credible leakers have said that this leak has some truth to them, but we won’t know for sure until MiHoYo announces it officially!
So, do you think we’re getting a Genshin Impact anime anytime soon? I mean, you know what they say about manifesting what you want, so here’s hoping!
