At this point, we all know how the song and dance of One Piece goes. It’s been more than two decades, and after numerous characters that both entered and exited the roster, there are quite a few that have had their legacy stay. I mean, what is a Shonen if it doesn’t have some of the most ridiculously overpowered characters in its own lore’s existence? And honestly, all jokes apart, One Piece is pretty balanced when it comes to that sort of thing. Just look at Kaido.
Kaidou Of the Beasts isn’t just known as the ‘Strongest Creature’ for the hell of it. He is near indestructible, merciless in his actions due to being raised as a child soldier. But most importantly, a lot of his strength is intrinsic, coming from the exceptional control he has over his Conqueror’s Haki and the Devil Fruit he had consumed in his youth. Both these thing add to his growing powers, leading the man to become a part of the Four Emperors. He is one of the most notorious and frightening captains to sail the high seas.
And look, Kaidou isn’t the only one to have both a Haki and Devil Fruit powers. That seems to be the standard power rationing amongst the top dogs in One Piece, including our very own Monkey D. Luffy. But unlike those other characters who have more subtle designs that hide their strengths, Kaidou puts it all out on the forefront. There is no mistaking the archetype that he embodies, which the strongman character in the series. His design and actions pretty much explain it all.
But despite his reputation and prowess, Kaido didn’t stay on top forever. Eventually, even he was toppled from his throne and replaced by younger blood. Still, that doesn’t change his notoriety as being the strongest person of his era. And that’s exactly what we are going to breakdown in today’s segment of Character Analysis – where we take a good look at popular characters across anime.

Kaido: Endurance Rivaled By None
In Shonen, it isn’t hard to find characters that seem near indestructible. I mean, that’s kind of the name of the game. You have characters that are constantly leveling up, filled with stereotypes of all kinds. And in a story like that, Kaido fits in perfectly.
Like, the man looks imposing. He’s almost horrifyingly tall, clocking in at about 710 cm with a heavily built body that towers over most ordinary humans. Add that his large horns and scarred body, and you know he’s been through his fair share of skirmishes. And won all of them.
I mean, just look at the sheer amount of hurt he had to go through during the Onigashima Raid. He survived direct attacks from people like Raizo, even toughening through Luffy unleashing the Fourth Gear powers. Not even the Red Scabbards or Roronoa Zoro’s Ashura combined could hold him down. His endurance and strength are plain legendary.
When it comes to a one-on-one battle, people always bet on Kaido to come out on top.
A Deadly Combination Of Haki And The Devil Fruit:
But as much as physical strength matters in One Piece, the real ace that most pirates have is an enhanced form of Spiritual powers known as the Haki. Or, if not that, they can try and getting supplemental superpowers through consuming one of the legendary Devil Fruits, strange artifacts that have godly abilities.
And Kaido, like many others, has both at his disposal. He is one of the two people in the entire world that has mastered all three forms of Haki, giving him an inexplicable edge. And then there is the Mythical Zoan fruit that was given to him by Big Mama, which only added to his arsenal.
The Uo Uo No Mi: Model Seiryu grants Kaido the ability to basically shapeshift into a mythical creature known as the Azure Dragon. This is done in two forms. One, where Kaido becomes a Human-Beast hybrid. And then another, which is at full power and Kaido becomes a proper dragon like creature.
Combine these two traits with someone that is already so formidable and, well, it’s no surprise that Kaido is one of the most feared people around!
