I have only watched Spy X Family once. And yet, I will give anything to have Loid Forger and Yor Forger be my mom and dad for eternity. Listen, what is better than a fake family trope? A fake family trope where the parents are so superpowered, it’s kind of ridiculous. It gives me so much joy to see them both on screen, showing off their hidden nature. But, between the two, who do you reckon is the most powerful?
I’m not saying I’m biased here but to me, Yor is definitely the brawns in the relationship. She is lethal and powerful, not to mention a powerhouse of moves. But, compared to Loid’s introspective and insidious nature, I’m not sure how she’ll hold up. After all, a fight is more than just sheer strength. If you could just barrel your way through an opponent, half the fights in anime would be won by oafs with no brains. But this is why a comparison between the two is most entertaining.
Like, Loid and Yor are one of the hottest couples in anime right now. But I also think there’s more to it than them simply being two very attractive people. The thing is, both Loid and Yor are adults. They have adult responsibilities, including taking care of a family. Both of them share the burden equally, and both are pretty equally matched when it comes to power and strength. And that is something you just don’t see in anime. I mean, it’s a bummer that it’s a fake marriage but you never know.
However, they are still a very balanced couple so stacking them up against each other is bound to reveal some interesting things. Which of the two is stronger you ask? Let’s break that down in Character Versus! This is where we take two popular characters from the Animesphere and pit them against each other to see who would come out on top. And today, it’s Twilight VS the Thorn Princess!
Yor Forger: A Deadly Beauty!
Yor is your average femme fatale – if the femme fatale was kind of a ditz. She’s just your average day service worker who just happens to moonlight as a world-class assassin at night. Nothing out of the ordinary!
Okay but no, our girl Yor is seriously lethal. She is highly skilled in fighting and has almost inhumane strength to boot. She has never lost a target and is extremely good at her job of killing and leaving not a trace behind. Yor also happens to be immune to most hazards, including poison. She is quick at evasion and even quicker at slicing your throat. You definitely don’t see her coming.
However, she is a bit of an airhead. Like, she’s just very unassuming to anything that isn’t her target at the moment. She takes a lot of things in stride and doesn’t question them. It’s a testament to her inherent sweet personality. Her moniker as the Thorn Princess was the product of Yor trying to provide for her brother.
Loid Forger: Playing To His Strengths!
Now, Loid is the undoubted brain of the fake Forger family. He’s cool, suave and a master of disguise. What he lacks in sheer strength, he makes up in his svelte nature.
That doesn’t mean he can’t fight back though. We saw how the two went toe to toe during Anya Forger’s birthday. They were really going at it, dodging and countering each other at every point. In terms of fighting adaptability, the two were nearly equally matched.
However, Loid has an edge over Yor when it comes to tactical skills and navigating his way through tricky situations. His training as an internationally persecuted spy has given him more than enough training when it comes to evading and striking where it matters!
Winner: Yor Based On Strength Alone, But It Can Go Either Way!
So, technically speaking, we’ve already seen Yor almost launch Loid into the stratosphere with a kick. The only reason she ended up being defeated in that fight was that she was black-out drunk. She has the upper hand in hand-to-hand combat.
Someone used the analogy of Superman and Batman for the two and it makes sense. Yor is the more powerful of the two but given a little time and distance, Loid can easily overwhelm her.
