So, how is everyone enjoying Mashle: Muscle And Magic’s second season? Or should I ask how much people like Bling Bang Bang Born, its anime opening? I can’t even blame anyone here, that song is an absolute earworm and I find myself just vibing to its groovy little dance randomly as I’m doing stuff around the house. It’s so good.
Which is why finding more anime openings like Bling Bang Bang Born that are just as catchy? It wasn’t actually all that hard. As a certified weeb and licensed enjoyer of great anime OPs, Bling Bang Bang Born reminds me of some of the more fun anime openings back in the day, like with Lucky Star or Death Parade. You know, the kind that made you want to get up and dance along with them?
A good anime opening is such an integral part of the anime viewing experience. Like, there’s a reason why Yoasobi’s opening for Oshi No Ko, ‘Idol’, went as viral as it did. It just hits so well, and makes you want to join in on the fun. So, a good little ditty for an anime opening? It makes all the difference in how I end up enjoying said anime. It represents what the anime is about and hooks you right into it.
And that’s exactly what happened for Mashle: Muscle and Magic. Bling Bang Bang Bang Born by Creepy Nuts sells the ridiculous premise of the anime so well, with its unique Jersey Beat rhythm and fun little dance moves. It’s hard to find something exactly similar to it, but here are my top 5 catchy anime openings that’ll get you moving just like Bling Bang Bang Born, in another round of Get Ranked!
Table of Contents
5. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – Ya Boy Kongming!
Where were you if you weren’t dancing to the smooth discotheque beats of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang last year? Ya Boy Kongming is already an absurd series, but it’s made so much better thanks to its amazing opening, which is reminiscent of Hong Kong nightlife during the 80s.
My favorite part is probably the rap breakdown in the middle, but honestly the song never fails to make me shimmy along with it. Also, like, just watch Ya Boy Kongming, it’s really that good!
4. Wild Side – Beastars
No, because why does an anime about the gritty world of high school furries have such a classy jazz dance number as it’s OP? Wild Side caught me off guard with its beautiful stop motion animation sequence in the Beastars anime, but the music itself is undoubtedly its best feature.
It’s groovy and experimental in a way only the band ALI could make it and I adore seeing different people craft their choreographies to it. It’s just a really solid song, even outside the fanbase!
3. Daten – Call Of The Night
I mean, this was made by the same people that made Bling Bang Bang Born, so you know it’s going to bring the same heat. Although this isn’t a Jersey Beat tune, I fully believe that Daten by Creepy Nuts was one of the reasons the anime, Call Of the Night, did so well at its launch.
It just invokes that sense of lonely city nights while still keeping things fresh and fun. If this is the quality we can expect from Creepy Nuts when they do OPs, then I can’t wait to hear more from them!
2. Onegai Muscle – How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift?
It. Has. Muscle Waifus! Do I need to say more?! Okay, jokes aside, if you have not bopped to Onegai Muscle by Fairouz Ai and Ishikawa Kaito, you’re seriously missing out. How Heavy Are The Dumbbells You Lift? is such an underrated feel-good anime, and its opening is just one of the many things I love about it.
The actual lyrics are downright hilarious, and yet you can’t help but sing along while getting some lifts in yourself. I mean, the song makes you want to go to the gym. Now, that’s impressive.
1. Motteke! Sailor Fuku! – Lucky Star
Lucky Star was a cultural hallmark of a series and I will not be taking any criticisms regarding that fact whatsoever. Back when TikTok challenges weren’t even a thing, there were so many people that were trying to learn the dance to Motteke! Sailor Fuku!
It was such a hype opening, one that never failed to get the viewers to start dancing along with the cheerleaders on screen. It’s so quintessential to the weeb experience that I couldn’t not mention it!
Anime openings have become mainstream and I’m really happy to see it happen. There is so much amazing music there that you can dig into, no matter what genre you prefer. But if you want music for silly dancing like Bling Bang Bang Born, these 5 anime openings are your easiest bet.
