Okay so, anime and manga inspiring dances that go viral on the internet isn’t exactly rare. The Hakari Dance from Jujutsu Kaisen is just the newest one on the market that is taking TikTok and YouTube Shorts by surprise. Then again, it’s hard for it not to, considering how it’s simultaneously simple yet catchy enough to get attention. Plus, it comes from one of the most beloved series out there.
The Hakari Dance is basically just a series of hip thrusts, with arms in the air like double fists at a club party. Which, when you see the executor of said dance? Yeah, it makes sense. The Hakari dance was made famous thanks to Chapter 186, where we see Hakari battle it out with Hajime Kashimo and do a dance right in the middle to celebrate a hit.
Which, yeah I can see why that would go viral. It’s silly and goofy and if you want to see how it goes, let’s break the Hakari dance down in F.Y.I.!
How To Do The Hakari Dance
So, technically the dance has been popping up everywhere but considering that the actual dance itself is nothing more than a few still manga panels? That means it could be hard to follow through with correctly. But fear not, because the dance has been perfected by TikTok anime influencers and that means we have a visual aid to follow her.
But even if it weren’t, the dance itself isn’t very complicated. Like, if we had to break it down it’s literally just hip thrusts and finger guns in the air.
Step 1 is having your legs apart in a semi-squat.
Step 2 is putting both fists up in the air.
Step 3 is moving your hips forward while turning side to side.
Throw in a few finger guns right after on your other elbows and that’s it. Yes, the Hakari dance is every club dance ever, I’m glad we’ve discussed it.
Anime Dances Are Popularizing The Genre
I mean, the Hakari dance isn’t the only TikTok dance inspired from an anime that went viral. ‘Idol’ from Oshi No Ko was massive back when it first launched, to the point where even K-Pop stars such as IVE and Twice were doing them. Like, that dance was properly viral.
And I get the appeal, especially when you consider how TikTok has become the main platform from which things gain traction. A lot of music that gets popular on TikTok is what makes it into the Billboard charts. Similarly, anime and manga really get more followers when they are recommended or talked about in TikTok reels. There’s simply a bigger audience, and the short form videos catch attention.
Make it into a dance and, well, it’s super easy to see why it’d go viral. It just pulls in new fans to whatever anime it is showing off. And so, people wanting to do the Hakari dance isn’t exactly novel. If anything, it’s free publicity!
