Do you know what my perpetual gripe with harem anime is? The sheer number of options. Like, there are too many love interests for one lukewarm protagonist, and none of them get fleshed out properly. And it doesn’t help that the one protagonist always entertains with each option. Like, dude, let me have an OTP (One True Pairing) and be in peace. However, Classroom Of The Elite fans has been concerned about the same with Ayanokoji and his dalliances. Will Ayanokoji finally part ways with his emotionlessness, and fall in love?
Kiyotaka Ayanokoji will fall in love at some point during the story; he’s just going to take his sweet time doing so. I mean, that’s what a harem anime’s end goal is; to find the perfect waifu for the main character. But with Ayanokoji, there have been so many options that work perfectly with his personality that it’s getting harder to discern who might be coming up out on time. And while that adds to the plot, it isn’t necessarily a positive.
Have you ever heard of ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’? That’s what happens when you add too many dominant elements to an already high-paced premise, and it just goes all over the place. Some of the girls in Classroom Of the Elite aren’t all that much of a standout so they get lost in the background. What you’re left with are these heavy hitters competing for the attention of a very poker-faced character, and it’s just. Hard to discern.
But of course, there is going to be the girl, the one that Ayanokoji inevitably falls for and can’t cast aside for his goals. So, when is that going to happen? And who’s going to be the lucky lady? Well, that’s what we are here to figure out in today’s segment of Lore Analysis – where we get to the bottom of certain queries going around the internet regarding anime and manga of all types! Today, let’s take a look at Ayanokoji in romance mode.
Kiyotaka Ayanokoji: What Does He Bring To The Table?
Let’s talk about the man of the hour himself and why he’s the object of everyone’s affections. Kiyotaka Ayanokoji is your basic ‘cool guy’ protagonist. He’s practically catnip for all the girls at Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School.
Like, Ayanokoji has got it all. He’s cool, aloof, smarter than anyone, and has a mysterious past. And on top of all that, he’s a looker, ranking fifth in the ikemen amongst first years. As part of Class 1-D, he’s known to be quiet and observant, with great observational skills, so you’ll never have to voice how you feel about something. Because likely, Ayanokoji already knows, and he’s working on a plan to help you out!
..Or he’s going to ignore you entirely because he’s using you to pretend to be normal and inconspicuous. See, that’s the other thing about Ayanokoji: he’s hiding behind walls because his dad used him in an experiment or whatever, so there are severe daddy issues. He isn’t a people person, and that’s a downgrade. You have to ask yourself if you even want that baggage, you know?
But if he does start caring about you, it’ll be because you impressed him with your intellect and maturity. And that’s when he will start making more effort into not sounding like a monotonous robot when you two are together.
Who Will Ayanokoji Fall In Love With?
So, considering all the girls at the High School are involved with Ayanokoji, one way or another, who would suit his sordid personality best? The thing is, he already has a girlfriend, Kei Karuizawa.
They met during the survival challenge on the island, and Kei decided that he looked the least perverted and chose him to buddy up with. This shows that she’s smart because she weeded out the creeps before they could get to her.
But then he breaks up with her because he moved classes. And then he gets back with her when she isn’t a pawn in his game anymore. For some reason, she agrees, so they are currently a couple again. So, I guess he can fall in love after, you know, manipulating an entire scenario to trap this girl.
What can I say, the standards for the girls at Advanced Nurturing High are so low, that they are on the ground.
