Anime has become an art form worthy of discussion. Then again, it always has been, if anime streamers have anything to say about it. And I agree. Anime is just such a varied medium which can invoke so many different emotions, and trying to explain them is a whole seperate thing on its own. Whether it’s discussing the philosophy of an anime or just how fun it is, it’s always interesting to see what people take from a series.
Or it’s just fun seeing other people react to something you like or dislike. That’s, like, what most of the best anime streamers do, after all. But while I enjoy low stakes content like that as well, sometimes I just want to discuss the themes behind my favorite anime and what it could all mean. Like, I write about this for a living. Sometimes it’s nice to hear how someone might have felt affected by Berserk, so I could reflect on my own thoughts about it.
So, while I love anime streamers in general, I think my favorite ones are those that also do video essays on the side. Because they tend to be more in depth and really help bring things into perspective, really driving their points home. And I know it’s meant to be lighthearted, like this is just some anime they are talking about. But if you’ve been here long enough, you know a lot of anime can be really diverse in their subject matter.
But that’s not to say I don’t enjoy someone just plain freaking out over a series that they are experiencing for the first time. Like, yes, I want to see more people squeal over Nanami, like he’s my personal babygirl. So today, let’s rank the top best anime streamers, in another round of Get Ranked!
Table of Contents
8. Carmen Elaine
Carmen Elaine is not only a top notch cosplay content creator, but her anime streaming videos are insanely fun. I mean, she is a girl’s girl at the end of it, and she knows what anime fangirls enjoy. And I appreciate that, you know? Like sometimes, all I want to do is scream at fanservice and that’s okay. She mostly streams popular Shounen such as Jujutsu Kaisen and maybe some romance thrown in the middle, but it’s a hoot everytime!
7. Bonsai Pop
Bonsai Pop isn’t strictly known for their anime streaming, but they do it on and off as a reward. And the reason I personally like their anime streams is because they bring that same eloquence and narration that they have into their video essays to streaming, basically reacting to anime in real time. It makes for a surprisingly informative experience that is both fun and educational. And really, Bonsai pop’s videos essays alone should have you hooked. The streams are just a bonus!
6. Sock Sensei
Less of an anime streamer and more of an anime break down channel, Sock Sensei has some of my favorite anime videos on YouTube. You can tell they put so much care into their craft, basically narrating entire arcs of an anime that it ends up feeling like an episode by episode analysis, much like an anime stream. Their ‘Making Sense Of..’ series is probably one of the best on the website, and the Neon Genesis Evangelion one made me rewatch the series.
5. CDawgVA
CDawgVA is one of the few people you can recall from the top of your head when it comes to anime YouTube in general. And yes, he does have a few videos of anime streaming. Again, there is something so nice about finding anime youtubers that aren’t afraid of grittier anime and don’t act edgy about it. And CDawgVA is one of them, especially with his watchthrough of Banana Fish. Still don’t forgive him for the trauma though!
4. Joey The Anime Man
I mean, he has ‘The Anime Man’ right there in the name. No but JoeyTheAnimeMan is also one of those anime streamers that are surprisingly respectful while having an insane amount of humor to their content. They take on not just anime, but different aspects of Japanese pop culture and lifestyle, meaning it’s a different experience compared to other streamers. But fun, nonetheless.
3. Gigguk
Gigguk was actually the first anime youtuber I really started watching, so he really is a veteran in the industry. But that makes sense, considering he’s been doing video essays and anime streaming for more than a decade now. And somehow, he can be very expressive about the anime he’s watching while simultaneously admitting it’s flaws. Which is great when you’re trying to get a feel for a certain anime yourself. Plus, the man is just plain funny, so it’s enjoyable to watch his breakdowns!
2. AkiDearest
If Gigguk was the first anime YouTuber I got into, AkiDearest was the first female one. And it was so nice to see a female weeb make content for the rest of us. And like, when you watch ehr streams, it’s just so hilarious. AkiDearest happens to be very perceptive about certain themes in anime, while still making fun of the obvious fanservice and the like. Watching her videos and anime streams is like watching anime with your best friend, and that feels so special.
1. Danny Motta
Okay, despite discovering Danny Motta pretty late, I am obsessed with his anime videos. This anime streamer is not afraid to try it all, and boy does he have fun doing it. I think my favorite part about Danny’s anime streams is his reaction to everything, and genuinely listening to his audience when they clarify something. He isn’t afraid to try different genres and actually give them a fighting chance. This man just takes everything in stride and I love him for it.
Anime streaming itself has never been my favorite thing, but I’m warming up to them with these amazing anime streamers. Still, who is your fave anime steamer? Sound off below!
