Overlord

In 2138, the popular virtual-reality game Yggdrasil is shutting down. Rather than log out before the servers close, player Momonga stays until the end and finds himself transformed into the image of a skeletal wizard. Stranger still, non-player characters begin showing genuine emotions as the world around him continues to change. Momonga, an ordinary young man outside the game, now occupies the form of an exceptionally powerful wizard and begins pursuing control over the unfamiliar world around him.
