Fullmetal Alchemist

Alchemy operates on the principle that gaining something requires giving up something of equal value. Edward Elric, a highly talented young alchemist, learns the cost of that rule through an accident that leaves him without a leg and costs his younger brother Alphonse his body. Edward sacrifices an arm to bind Alphonse Elric's soul to a suit of armor, keeping his brother alive but leaving both of them physically changed. Their search for a way to restore their original bodies leads them toward the legendary Philosopher's Stone, an object believed capable of allowing an alchemist to surpass the normal rules of equivalent exchange. The brothers set out together, driven by the hope of undoing the consequences of their past.
