All Bankai Names In Bleach
Find Bleach's Bankai names, owners and abilities, including current TYBW forms and novel releases. Filter by continuity without mixing Shikai and Bankai.

Tensa Zangetsu is Ichigo Kurosaki's Bankai, Zanka no Tachi belongs to Yamamoto, and Koko Gonryo Rikyu belongs to Chojiro Sasakibe. Kenpachi's Bankai has no revealed proper name: Nozarashi is his Zanpakuto and Shikai name.
This guide separates Bankai by their original story continuity: manga releases, Thousand-Year Blood War additions, and the novels. A new transformation does not automatically mean a new Bankai name, and an unnamed release is not a missing entry.
Spoilers follow for Bankai revelations and later forms in the manga, Thousand-Year Blood War anime, and novels.

Shikai and Bankai Are Different Releases
A Soul Reaper's Zanpakuto is more than an ordinary sword. Shikai is its initial release; Bankai is a further release that draws out a deeper expression of its power. Learning a sword's name and obtaining Shikai does not automatically mean its wielder has mastered Bankai.
The two names often resemble each other without being interchangeable. Byakuya's Shikai is Senbonzakura, while his Bankai is Senbonzakura Kageyoshi. Yamamoto's Ryujin Jakka is Shikai, not another name for Zanka no Tachi. Arrancar use Resurreccion, a different release system, rather than receiving Bankai simply because they carry a Zanpakuto.
What an Unknown Bankai Name Means
An unnamed Bankai is not the same as an unshown Bankai. Kenpachi releases Bankai during the Gerard Valkyrie battle, but the release does not supply a new proper name. His physical transformation is distinct from the huge cleaver of Nozarashi's Shikai. Kenpachi's Bankai and its limits explain that difference in more detail.
Likewise, a captain's rank or a named Shikai is not enough to fill in an unrevealed Bankai. Aizen's Kyoka Suigetsu should not become a Bankai entry by assumption.
Some apparent names also need their full wording. Ichibe's release is Shirafude Ichimonji; Shin'uchi is its older release designation. Shunsui's Bankai is Katen Kyokotsu Karamatsu Shinju, not just Karamatsu Shinju.
Manga, Anime Additions, and Novels
A release can belong to more than one version of the story. Shinji's Sakashima Yokoshima Happo Fusagari was revealed in Can't Fear Your Own World and then appeared in the TYBW anime. Its TV appearance brings it within this guide's scope, but it is not a revelation from the original manga.
Senjumaru's Shatatsu Karagara Shigarami no Tsuji is a TYBW anime addition. Her needle-shaped Shikai is Shigarami. Neither that added Bankai scene nor Shinji's anime appearance should be assigned an invented manga debut chapter.
Novel releases belong in their own group so they are not mistaken for manga or TV revelations. Likewise, a game-original alternate form does not become a story-canon Bankai simply because an official game uses it.
The novel-only group includes Shuhei Hisagi's Fushi no Kojo from Can't Fear Your Own World, plus Urozakuro and Gagaku Kairo from Spirits Are Forever With You. These do not receive invented manga debut chapters. Classic anime filler is also isolated in its own group, including Shusuke Amagai's Raika Goen Kaku, so it cannot be mistaken for a manga or TYBW release.
Later Forms and Alternate Names
Renji's Hihio Zabimaru is his earlier, incomplete Bankai. Soo Zabimaru is its true name and form. They belong to one wielder, but they are not the same revelation, and neither is a replacement name for his Shikai, Zabimaru.
Ichigo's reforged pair of blades is Shikai. In the manga, the blades combine into a single sword for Tensa Zangetsu. The Bankai name stays the same; Hollow transformations and Mugetsu are not extra Bankai names. The later damage to that sword has a separate explanation in why Orihime could not repair Ichigo's Bankai.
The TYBW anime also introduces Blood-chain Ichigo, a form produced when his partially Hollowfied state combines with Bankai. It changes his appearance and power, but the form's label is not a replacement name for Tensa Zangetsu. The Finder keeps that anime development attached to Ichigo's existing entry.
Toshiro's completed release is still Daiguren Hyorinmaru. His change in appearance does not introduce a separately named Bankai. Why Toshiro becomes an adult explains the role of the disappearing ice petals.
Modified releases also need context. Mayuri's Matai Fukuin Shotai is a modified Bankai, while Komamura's Dangai Joe belongs to the exceptional conditions surrounding his Humanization Technique. Those forms do not make every ordinary use of their Bankai work the same way.
Spelling differences are another matter: macrons, long vowels, spaces, and apostrophes can change a romanized name's appearance without identifying a different weapon. The owner, release stage, and story version matter more than a spelling variant.
