She is the proprietress of "Biblia Koshodou," a used bookstore in Kita-Kamakura. She took over the shop after her father—the previous owner—passed away the year before the story begins.
A beauty with long black hair and translucent skin, she bears a strong resemblance to her mother. She is nearsighted and usually wears glasses. She has an introverted personality and cannot even make eye contact with others unless the conversation is about books.

Her knowledge of antiquarian books is extraordinary. While she normally speaks in a halting, hesitant manner, she "flips a switch" when the topic turns to books; her speech becomes brisk and confident—as if she were a different person—and she will continue to share her knowledge without regard for her listener.
