More than a Married Couple, but Not Lovers. follows third-year student Jirou Yakuin, who hopes to be paired with his classmate Shiori in the school's mandatory Couple Practical course. Instead, random assignment places him with Akari Watanabe, whose outgoing personality sharply contrasts with his own. Akari wanted to be paired with her crush Minami, while Shiori and Minami end up together. Jirou and Akari reluctantly cooperate because couples who rank in the top ten may be allowed to exchange partners.
