Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You

Sawako Kuronuma is a timid and kind student whose appearance causes her classmates to mistake her for someone frightening or malicious. Her resemblance to the ghost girl from The Ring even earns her the nickname "Sadako," reinforcing the distance between Sawako and the friendships she wants. She is especially drawn to Shouta Kazehaya, a popular classmate whose open, refreshing personality represents the kind of easy social connection she lacks. When Kazehaya begins talking to her, Sawako finally sees a path toward the ordinary friendships she has long hoped for, with the possibility that her feelings could grow into something more.
