Great Pretender

Makoto Edamura proudly calls himself Japan's greatest swindler, although his usual targets are elderly people and occasional foreign travelers. His routine changes when he attempts to scam an apparently naive French tourist visiting Tokyo.

What looks like an easy job quickly turns into something far larger than Edamura expected. Instead of walking away with another small con behind him, he is swept from Tokyo to Los Angeles and ends up tied upside down on the Hollywood sign. Great Pretender begins with Edamura discovering that the supposed mark may be operating on a level far beyond his own, pulling the self-confident con man into a much wider world of deception.
