Golden Kamuy

In early twentieth-century Hokkaido, Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi Sugimoto struggles to get by during the postwar gold rush. His fortunes change when he learns of a hidden cache of Ainu gold and obtains the beginnings of a route toward finding it.

The treasure is valuable enough to attract ruthless criminals and rogue Japanese soldiers, making every step of the search dangerous. Sugimoto must survive both armed rivals and the unforgiving northern wilderness while piecing together the path to the gold. His most important ally is Asirpa, an Ainu girl whose help becomes essential as the hunt grows increasingly treacherous.
