Elfen Lied

Diclonius are mutated humans distinguished by horns and powerful telekinetic abilities, making them feared enough to be captured and isolated in government laboratories. Lucy, a young Diclonius held in one of these facilities, violently escapes but is shot in the head before falling into the ocean. She survives and later washes ashore, where teenagers Kouta and Yuka find her. The injury has left her without her memories, and the only word she can say is “Nyuu,” which becomes the name they use for her. Kouta and Yuka take her into their home, unaware that Lucy's dangerous former personality has not simply disappeared.
