After 500+ episodes and over 10 years, the Naruto Shippuden series came to an end, leaving all of us in tears over the huge impact that it had left on every fan all around the world. The hit series, from start to the end, spared no budget in giving us some of the best fights like Itachi vs. Madara that the anime industry had ever seen.

With moments that left us bawling with tears and a feeling of nostalgia, the creators made it their top priority to go into debt with the storyline of almost every character.

Among the series of epic battles and overpowered fights, there has been one fight with fans asking the big question. Who would win in a fight between Itachi Uchiha and Madara Uchiha?

The long but not forgotten debate has made quite the impression and left fans puzzled over who would come out as the strongest Shinobi and Uchiha the series ever created. Without further wasting of time, let’s get down to the facts!

Itachi Uchiha: Background

Itachi Uchiha, renowned as the Clan Killer and one of the Uchiha clan’s finest ninjas, has been the star boy since a very young age. Not only did he excel at everything, but Itachi was the youngest Uchiha to awaken the Sharingan and later the Mangekyou Sharingan after witnessing the death of his best friend Shisui Uchiha. After killing his entire clan, save for Sasuke, Itachi was forced to leave the village and join the Akatsuki, where he stood as the strongest member.

Itachi consistently showed prowess well beyond his years, as he mastered some of the best skills and tactics and unlocked his Sharingan at the age of 8, which earned him great fame as “Itachi of the Sharingan”. He was also the master of the Genjustsu technique, in which the illusion particularly involves crows. Itachi could easily affect his targets without them realizing it and had him use minimum powers to maintain his hold on them.

The Mangekyo Sharingan in both of his eyes allowed Itachi to use Tsukuyomi, a genjutsu technique that traps opponents’ minds in an illusory world. With his right eye, he could also use Amaterasu, which could ignite anything with black flames just by looking at it. Finally, he could use Susanoo after awakening his Mangekyo Sharingan; Susanoo wielded the Sword of Totsuka and the Yata mirror shield that protected him from every type of damage. Simultaneously using both the weapons made Itachi invincible, but it would drain up all of his chakra and energy, not to mention the extensive use of the Mangekyo caused his eyes to bleed and bring blindness.

Who is Uchiha Madara?

One of the founders of Konoha and the leader of the Uchiha clan, Madara Uchiha, oozed extreme power and wisdom. From a young age, he could easily defeat an average Senju warrior, and as an adult, the combined powers of the 5 Kage were equal to nothing in front of him. He was also the first person to awaken the powers of the Mangekyo Sharingan, and with those powerful eyes, he came to the very top and was on par with Hashirama Senju, the God of Shinobi.

His main powers throughout the series range from superhuman strength to advanced Uchiha techniques like Susanoo. He is considered the strongest shinobi of the whole Naruto series as not only did he unlock the Sharingan, but he also upgraded it to Mangekyo Sharingan.

Furthermore, he got his hands on the Rinnegan and could also summon the impure world reincarnation, with which he could have infinite chakra. Consequently, he would regenerate from any attack that would have killed anyone else. He even defeated Naruto along with the nine-tailed fox, Sasuke, Kakashi, Might Guy, and every other tailed beast that came his way.

He even traveled to another dimension where Obito had hidden the other Rinnegan that he was after and soon afterward became the ten-tails Jinchuuriki giving him unrivaled strength and power. According to Sakura, Madara’s chakra level was from a different dimension than Obito as the ten-tailed Jinchuuriki. He could also fly and use the ability of the Truth-Seeking Balls. Thus, this shows us the incomparable strength of Madara Uchiha.

Itachi Vs. Madara: The Final Victor

While there is no denying that Itachi is powerful, Madara is simply from another world when you compare the two together. With the powers of the 10 tails and the Six Paths at his disposal, Madara is miles ahead of Itachi, and there is simply no way the latter could even put up a fight.

If the two went head to head with each other, Madara would win without even a sweat breaking down his forehead. Now seeing it through facts, it took the following to even come close to the unimaginable powers of Madara Uchiha, who was equal to a God at this stage:

Sasuke Uchiha, considered stronger than his elder brother Itachi, could not stand a chance against his uncle and former teacher. Therefore, it would make zero sense that Itachi could even lay a scratch on Madara.

Can Itachi Defeat Madara?

There is one way by which Itachi could come up to a decent fighting level with Madara Uchiha, and that is if Itachi is reincarnated and not hampered by his disease and limited chakra. That way, he could use his Mangekyo Sharingan as many times as he wants, not to mention he could also unleash his Susanoo, which will bring him almost close to the abilities and strengths of Madara Uchiha.

We also could see the similarity of Sasuke with his elder brother as he fought against Madara and seemed a good fit when it came to speed and durability, so judging by these statistics, we know that Itachi is way faster than Sasuke and thus can defeat Madara in terms of his durability and speed. Not to mention his solid control on Genjutsu, which can maybe put Madara into a trance (let’s just assume that he would fall right into it), and with his speed, Itachi could easily blitz any version of Madara and land a good few critical hits to weaken him up.

Still, it is highly unlikely even with all the maxed-out abilities and unlimited chakras, Itachi would still not stand a chance against Madara and would easily be crushed by Madara’s monstrous strength and powers. Keeping these facts and figures in front of us, it seems like Madara is indestructible and has little to no weakness at all but there is one weakness, which is his overconfidence, which has resulted in him losing his big battles.

Nonetheless, we all love Itachi and Madara alike, maybe some love Itachi more, I don’t know, I am not one to judge! However, a fight between the two Uchihas can be seen as one side getting the benefit of the doubt and winning easily.
