You know, while I agree that Jujutsu Kaisen deserves all the praise it gets from fans all across the internet, I feel like people forget to mention the reason a lot of us started the anime in the first place. Which was the sheer number of gorgeous characters for weebs to collectively drool over. And no character from the show’s roster has stolen more hearts than possibly rich Gojo, the best Sorcerer this side of Japan!
Welcome to Character Analysis! This is where we take trending characters from across the Animesphere and examine what is it about them that makes them so iconic. This includes breaking down any queries about them being asked across the fandom, no matter how absurd or trivial they might sound.
And today we’ll be dissecting everyone’s favorite anime husband, Gojo Satoru from Jujutsu Kaisen. Now, Jujutsu Kaisen itself is an amazing show, proving itself to be one of the biggest anime adaptations of this decade. With solid action, genuine horror, and characters so charismatic, that you can’t help but fall in love, rich Gojo stands out as the best of the best. Not only is he one of the most powerful characters, but he’s also made some serious bank!
But how did a mere 29-year-old secure a bag that huge? Well, first of all, he isn’t just your average teacher now. But secondly, it might have something to do with his family background. Nevertheless, let’s discuss every anime fan’s dream sugar daddy, and how he got that cult status!
Gojo Satoru: He’s All That™ (And More!)
Gojo’s introduction in the anime is right when Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushigoro were retrieving the cursed object that snowballed the show’s premise, aka Sukuna’s finger. During that glance, we learned two things. First, Satoru is a very laid-back individual. Secondly, he’s lethal when he gets down to fight.
When Gojo Satoru was born to the illustrious Gojo family, a power balance shifted, and he had a bounty placed over his head almost immediately. He was deemed the pride of the family for being the first person in centuries to inherit both the Limitless technique, which is a Gojo family’s rich trademark and the Six Eyes technique, which can be used to amplify the Limitless to its full potential.
He completed his education as a sorcerer at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, going on to teach at Tokyo Jujutsu High while being employed as a Special Grade Sorcerer, an enormous feat for someone so young. And boy, does Gojo Satoru know how rare and rich a breed he is.
Because while he is very calm and fun, being the perfect mentor to his students, he is absolutely ruthless towards the more conservative higher-ups in the Sorcerer Community. Satoru knows the influence and power he holds as both a high-class Sorcerer and a member of a strong family. He uses it actively to basically bully Sorcerer Heads when it comes to getting his way. Especially when it concerns his pupils because his true goal is to reform the Sorcerer world for the coming generation of Sorcerers.
I mean, you don’t just become a legend by being humble, now do you?
The Rich Gojo: It Pays To Be the Best
Of course, when you’re that good at your job, you won’t exactly remain broke. Gojo Satoru is often shown going off to buy souvenirs while on missions, which isn’t inherently that telling of his financial status. But you know what is?
The fact that he sent 10 Million Yen to Mei-Mei so that she could promote Itadori, Megumi, and Nobara Kugisaki to Grade 1 Sorcerers, just because. (Okay maybe he was trying to fish out a mole but still! That’s a lot of dispensable income there Satoru!)
And then there was chapter 79 of the manga, where Nobara commented on how Gojo had really expensive furniture, specifically his chair. And coming from the shopaholic? That says a lot.
But it makes sense. Not only is he one of the most powerful people on earth, but he also comes from a family with a lot of prestige. I’m sure his job pays him handsomely and that he inherited a pretty penny from his lineage. Both factors contribute to him being the richest guy around.
Why Is The Internet Obsessed With Gojo Satoru?
Gojo Satoru’s character wiki says he’s ‘relatively’ attractive and excuse me? That is insulting. He’s rich, powerful, charismatic, and drop-dead gorgeous. Like, of course, he’s the internet’s anime crush right now!
Satoru is inexplicably cocky during his fights but so, so fun during his casual moments where he’s just interacting with the Tokyo trio. And he’s so protective over them too, having Itadori’s back when he supposedly died during the Fearsome Womb arc and being enraged at the seniors for putting the First-Years in danger during the Cursed Training arc.
What can we say? Gojo Satoru isn’t just a snack, he’s the whole damn meal.
