Another day, another opportunity for me to rant about how broken the power level system in Dragon Ball is at this point. No, really, what the heck is going on anymore? I grew up thinking no one will ever top Son Goku, considering he’s the literal protagonist of the franchise. But apparently, I was wrong, and there are not one but multiple characters like the Grand Priest that can just Thanos Snap Goku out of existence if they wished? Sigh, things were so much simpler when it was just Goku VS Vegeta.
Of course, when you look at everything available, there is no character in Dragon Ball that can defeat Zeno, aka the King Of All. Like, objectively, how do you even try to get a one-up on someone who is basically omniscient and can erase entire universes on a whim. So, even if you bring him up against someone like the Grand Priest (who happens to be an advisor to Zeno on some occasions, strangely enough), there is still no comparison between the two.
The Grand Priest, or the Grand Minister as he’s sometimes known as, is indeed a very powerful individual that stands on top of his particular hierarchy. In this case, it’s the Angels, who are beings very high on the totem pole in the Multiverse, and their main job is to offer guidance to the Gods of Destruction such as Giin and, yes, Zeno. But that’s how you know that, technically, the Grand priest doesn’t stand a chance against Zeno.
But regardless, it isn’t a bad idea to take a closer look at why that may be the case. I mean, if Zeno is so undefeatable, why is that so? Let’s get down to Character Versus! This is where we take iconic characters from either the same franchises or even different ones and see who would come out on top when it comes to sheer power alone. Today, it’s the Omni-King VS the Father Of The Thirteen Angels, so let’s dive right in!

Grand Priest: The High Priest With A Penchant For Destroying Planets?
Let’s discuss the Multiverse for a second and explain how it came to be in the Dragon Ball universe. One thing is for sure, though. This isn’t just about aliens anymore.
The Multiverse itself is a chain of universes that have twin counterparts, except for one, which is an artificial universe. Originally there were 18 universes, but six of them got destroyed, so now, there remain 13. Each of the universes is looked after by a Supreme Kai, with creation and destruction in balance thanks to a God of Destruction as well.
There are 13 Angels, each providing counsel to a different God of Destruction. And on top of all of them sits the Grand Priest. The Grand Priest is definitely in the top 3 of the most powerful beings in the entire franchise, instilling fear in the hearts of Supreme Kais and Gods of Destruction alike. In fact, his own kind is terrified of him.
I mean, it makes sense why. Despite his smaller stature, he can level entire planets with a raise of a finger and can even take on someone like Whis without breaking a sweat. And as an Angel, he is effectively immortal. The only way he dies is if he violates one of his own rules as Angel. But, even with all this power, he isn’t on top of the food chain.
Zeno: The Supreme Ruler Of The Multiverse?
See, if the Grand Minister rules over all the Angels, then Zeno rules over him. The Grand Minister technically answers Zeno alone as Zeno is the supreme leader of all Gods Of Destruction and, effectively, the entire Multiverse as a result.
Remember the whole ’18 universes’ thing? Yeah, the six that were destroyed were done on a whim by Zeno simply because he didn’t want that many universes around. The dude killed trillions of life forms and didn’t bat an eyelash. Ice-cold is an understatement.
But he isn’t completely devoid of emotion either, considering how he seems to genuinely respect Goku. Which, I mean, I guess it pays to have a literal God be your friend. Because that is what Zeno is. You can’t surprise attack him because he’d be aware of it. In fact, before you even think about it, he could just use his Erase ability, and the opponent would cease to exist.
How do you fight someone with that kind of reach and control?
Winner: Zeno, The King Of All!
This wasn’t even up for debate; Zeno is just too untouchable as he is right now. Of course, he was bound to win. But to be fair, the Grand Priest is still arguably the second most powerful character in Dragon Ball.
And he has Zeno’s favor, being the one to counsel him. So hey, that counts for something, right?
